Are you new to prayer? Here are a few recommendations for cultivating a consistent prayer life.
Be Intentional.
Choose a time and place you will pray every day. Praying in the same place at the same time every day creates a habit of prayer.
Keep it simple.
Your daily time of prayer doesn’t need to be complicated or long. Here is a pattern you can use to get started.
Pray a short prayer asking God to speak to you.
Read a passage of the Bible, pausing to reflect and listen as you read.
Thank God for the blessings He has given you.
Acknowledge the worries, and admit the faults and sins that may be weighing on your mind.
After asking God to speak to you, spend a few minutes silently listening to God.
Write down what you sense God saying.
Thank God for His grace, and ask for His help with your day.
Join a prayer gathering.
One of the most effective ways to become effective and consistent in prayer is to get around people who pray. By regularly joining prayer gatherings, you will catch the spirit of prayer, and the faith of others will encourage you.
Prayer and Fasting is an opportunity to intentionally seek God, grow in our relationship with Him, and make space to hear His voice. As we humble ourselves, pray, and turn our attention toward Him, we make room for God to work in our lives and lead us by His Spirit.
